Founded in 1977, Bach Musica is a choir and orchestra specialising in music of the Baroque and Classical periods.

Now widely recognized as one of New Zealand's premier Baroque ensembles, we present six concerts each year in our home venue, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland.

2008 Concert Series

Our 2008 concert series presents a range of superb compositions including recognised masterpieces, outstanding but lesser-known works and seven NZ premieres. Favourites by Bach and his family, Mozart, Mendelssohn, Monteverdi, Grieg, Handel, Durante and Taneyev promise an exciting mix of music that touches the soul. In our opinion there is no music more sublime than Bach's mighty St Matthew Passion; but wait till you hear Taneyev's Russian Requiem!

We also look forward to introducing you to two of JS Bach's sons by performing Johann Christian's Bassoon Concerto and Wilhelm Friedemann's cantata Lobet Gott. Other highlights include Mendelssohn's triumphant Hymn of Praise, Monteverdi's Christmas Vespers and Mozart's third violin concerto.
